Associação Ambiental da Via da Estrela (NIPC 519 292 170), with its registered office in Bemposta, Penamacor, Portugal, is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at info@aave.pt.

What data we collect and why

  • Newsletter subscription — your email address, so we can send you news from the association. Lawful basis: your consent.
  • Partner enquiries — when a business completes the "Become a partner" form, we store the business name, contact name, email, phone (if given) and message, so we can reply and assess the partnership. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and, where relevant, pre-contractual steps.
  • Partner listings — once a partnership is in place, we publish on the partners page the business name, logo, website, town, a short description and, where applicable, the discount offered to members. This information is public. Lawful basis: performance of the partnership agreement and the legitimate interest of both parties in promotion.
  • Sponsor and member accounts — name, email and authentication data, to run your account and sponsorships. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • Public guardian display — if you opt in from your account, we publish your name (or a display name of your choice) as a guardian on the page of the cat you sponsor. This display is private by default and relies on your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Lawful basis: your consent.
  • Donations — the accounting records required by law. Lawful basis: legal obligation.

Retention periods

  • Partner enquiries: kept for the duration of the contact and up to 24 months after the last interaction, unless the partnership goes ahead.
  • Partner listings: published while the partnership is active; removed when it ends.
  • Public guardian display: shown only while the sponsorship is active and the option is on; removed as soon as you turn it off or the sponsorship ends.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Donation and accounting records: for the period required by Portuguese law (generally 10 years).

Who we share data with

We use service providers who process data on our behalf — notably email delivery (Resend) and site hosting. We do not sell your data.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your data, as well as to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact info@aave.pt. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), Portugal's supervisory authority: www.cnpd.pt.
