Somewhere safe to wake up

At the very beginning of our work, we’ve been given a wonderful gift. A group of Polish people living in Portugal decided to support the association and donate a large folding crate, which will help us provide a safe recovery space for cats receiving veterinary care.

This is one of the most useful things anyone could have given us. A cat recovering from anaesthetic needs somewhere quiet, dry and secure while they recover — usually overnight, and sometimes longer if there’s a wound or another problem that needs monitoring.

This crate is exactly right for the job: room for a bed, litter tray, food and water; two doors so we can reach the cat from either side while keeping stress to a minimum; and a floor tray that lifts out so everything can be thoroughly cleaned between cats.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. To be supported like this so early on — by people who simply decided that the cats of a village they don’t live in were worth helping — means a great deal to us.

Cats receiving veterinary treatment through AAVE will now have somewhere safe and comfortable to recover, and that’s down to you. 💚🐾

If you’d like to help in the same way, these are the kinds of things we’ll use constantly: carriers, recovery crates, blankets and towels, dry food and veterinary supplies. Small, practical donations can make a difference again and again.
